The exhibition Die Linie (The Line) is dedicated to the line as a fundamental element of visual art. Between subjective gesture and constructive precision, it performs a variety of tasks: it structures surfaces and defines forms, creates contours and boundaries, separates and connects. It documents time and space, describes reality, creates illusions and captures the imaginary.

Starting with the classical medium of drawing, the exhibition examines the potential of the line to create artistic worlds and to respond artistically to the world in which we live. The focus is on contemporary positions that transfer the line into space beyond traditional genre boundaries and show it as a medium for reflecting social and political realities.
